Poland

I took a ferry from Sweden across the Baltic Sea and spent 10 days in Poland. The scenery along my route got a little monotonous after a while, because it’s completely flat and mostly farmland. But the cities I visited were very lively, Wroclaw (pronounced vrot-swav), Krakow, and Poznan in particular. Polish food and beer is quite good and much cheaper than in Sweden. I often left restaurants very satisfied and full having spent about $8. There’s lots of farmers markets, which allowed me to eat quite healthy while I was there.

From Wroclaw I took a side-trip by train to Krakow in order to visit Auschwitz. Walking through the concentration camp, gas chambers, and crematoriums was very intense and disturbing, as was seeing piles of human hair and personal items that belonged to the hundreds of thousands of victims. I think everyone should try to experience this at some point.
